About
Bird knowledge, meaning and art.
Ask About Birds is an independent bird publishing and art project. It brings together practical bird guides, cultural context and a print room inspired by historical field illustration.
Who is responsible
Ask About Birds is published by Maebh Collins. The publisher is responsible for what appears on the site, including corrections, commercial disclosures and the separation between editorial guidance and products for sale.
We do not present the site as a research institution, veterinary service or substitute for a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Where a question affects an injured bird, animal health or the law, readers should use the relevant professional or public authority.
How the guides are made
Factual claims are checked against named sources, with preference given to research papers, government agencies and established bird organisations. Pages are updated when a source changes, a claim needs more context or a reader identifies a mistake.
Our full standards cover sourcing, software-assisted workflows, corrections and commercial content. Read the editorial and sourcing policy.
About the print room
The print room is part of the same project, but a product link does not determine an editorial conclusion. Product pages describe what is actually available, including format, size, paper and fulfilment details. Affiliate links are labelled where they appear.
Corrections and questions
If you find a factual error, a broken source or wording that needs clarification, email hello@askaboutbirds.com with the page address and the specific passage. You can use the same address for questions about prints and orders.
