Ask About Birds does not sell personal data. We use limited third-party analytics and advertising services as described below.
If you email us, we keep your message and email address only for as long as we need to reply.
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are useful. It records visits in aggregate, not individuals, and sets cookies to do so. Visitors in the EU, EEA and UK are asked to consent before it loads; in other regions it runs by default, and you can opt out at any time. Google AdSense may also load under the same consent rule to display advertising. Full detail is in our cookie policy.
The optional bird assistant uses Anthropic's Claude AI through Cloudflare. When you send a question, your message and a short recent conversation are sent to Anthropic to generate a reply. AI answers can contain mistakes. Please do not include payment details, passwords or sensitive personal information.
We do not save chat transcripts on our website. Your conversation stays in the current page and clears when you reload or leave it. Anthropic processes messages under its privacy policy. We use temporary request counters to limit abuse; these contain a daily hash of the IP address, not the address itself or your messages.
If you choose Ask us to reply and agree to save an enquiry, we store your name, email and question so our team can respond. This does not subscribe you to marketing emails. We keep the enquiry only as long as needed to handle it. You can also use our contact page.
Checkout and payment are handled by our payment provider. Card details are processed by them and never touch our servers. Their own privacy terms apply to that step.
You can ask us what data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@askaboutbirds.com.
