The story of the bird
Alaska’s Willow Ptarmigan turns from white to brown with the land itself - a bird so at home in the Arctic that it roosts inside snowdrifts to stay warm. The state lists more than 550 recorded species, from seabird colonies of three million birds on the Pribilof Islands to rare Asian vagrants blown onto the Aleutian chain.
This plate gathers the signature birds of Alaska onto a single sheet, drawn in the Audubon tradition of close observation and honest colour: Bristle-thighed Curlew, Spectacled Eider, Bar-tailed Godwit, McKay’s Bunting, Gyrfalcon, Bald Eagle, and the Willow Ptarmigan.

How to hang it
A composite plate wants room to breathe. Give it a pale wall, warm white or sage, and hang it at eye height where the palette can carry. A brown or gold moulding suits the cream ground; black or dark grey gives a more graphic edge. Keep it out of direct sun, which fades the colour over decades.
