Six plates. Every climate a penguin lives in. This is the whole penguin family drawn as one collection, from the Emperor that raises a chick through the Antarctic winter to the African Penguin that brays in the South African sun, and it is built to hang as a wall, not as a single picture.
The set gathers all six penguin studies: the Emperor Penguin family with its downy chick, the regal King Penguin with its orange teardrop ear-patches, the graphic black-and-white Adelie, the warm-shore African Penguin with its horseshoe chest band, the rare lemon-eyed Yellow-eyed Penguin from New Zealand, and the penguin chicks in their grey nursery down. Together they tell the truth a single portrait can’t: that this one family spans the globe, from pole to equator, in shapes a child still recognises instantly.
Every plate is in the same Audubon-style hand, the same cream ground and restrained palette, so the six read as one body of work however you arrange them. Six across a long hallway. A 2 by 3 block above a bed or a sofa. Three pairs through a stairwell. The shared frame colour and shared ground do the holding; the birds do the rest.
