The story of the bird
Indiana is the state of the Sandhill Crane spectacle, the cardinal that defines its suburbs, and one of the last great oak-hickory forests of the eastern United States. The full 400-species list reflects the state’s position at the Mississippi-Lake Michigan-Appalachian junction.
This plate gathers the signature birds of Indiana onto a single sheet, drawn in the Audubon tradition of close observation and honest colour: Cerulean Warbler, Henslow’s Sparrow, Loggerhead Shrike, Yellow-throated Warbler, Bobolink, Eastern Whip-poor-will, Worm-eating Warbler, and the Northern Cardinal.
The print

How to hang it
A composite plate wants room to breathe. Give it a pale wall, warm white or sage, and hang it at eye height where the palette can carry. A brown or gold moulding suits the cream ground; black or dark grey gives a more graphic edge. Keep it out of direct sun, which fades the colour over decades.
