The story of the bird
The Black-capped Chickadee is the state bird of Massachusetts - a Commonwealth that holds 524 species on its official list, where half of North America’s breeding Roseate Terns nest on two small islands in Buzzards Bay, and where a Victorian cemetery in Cambridge doubles as one of the finest warbler traps in New England.

How to hang it
A composite plate wants room to breathe. Give it a pale wall, warm white or sage, and hang it at eye height where the palette can carry. A brown or gold moulding suits the cream ground; black or dark grey gives a more graphic edge. Keep it out of direct sun, which fades the colour over decades.
