The story of the bird
The Hermit Thrush - Vermont’s state bird since 1941 - sings from spruce-fir forest in every one of the state’s 14 counties, a fluted phrase that carries at dusk when nothing else does. The Vermont Bird Records Committee lists close to 400 species from this small but geographically varied state, where boreal bog meets Lake Champlain wetland and alpine summit.
This plate gathers the signature birds of Vermont onto a single sheet, drawn in the Audubon tradition of close observation and honest colour: Bicknell’s Thrush, Bobolink, Spruce Grouse, Black-backed Woodpecker, Boreal Chickadee, Canada Jay, Bald Eagle, and the Hermit Thrush.

How to hang it
A composite plate wants room to breathe. Give it a pale wall, warm white or sage, and hang it at eye height where the palette can carry. A brown or gold moulding suits the cream ground; black or dark grey gives a more graphic edge. Keep it out of direct sun, which fades the colour over decades.
