The story of the bird

The Koloa Maoli (Anas wyvilliana), the Hawaiian Duck, is the native dabbling duck of the Hawaiian islands, a close relative of the Mallard in warm, mottled brown plumage. It is found nowhere else on earth, a quiet endemic of island wetlands and taro fields with real meaning for anyone connected to Hawaii.

The plate holds the bird in true proportion on a warm cream ground, rendered in a contemporary Audubon-inspired natural-history style with a soft paper-grain finish. A considered piece of duck wall art for a home with island ties.
