The story of the bird
The Laysan Albatross is one of the great seabirds of the North Pacific, a bird that can spend years at sea without touching land. It is white through the body and head, with dark grey-brown upperwings and back and a soft dusky shadow around the eye that gives the face its gentle, knowing look. The wings span more than six feet, built for the long effortless glide that carries an albatross across an ocean on the wind alone.
