About the bird
The cardinal is the state bird of seven US states, more than any other species, and he earned that through constancy: he does not migrate, and he does not change colour with the seasons. The berried branch matters too. Cardinals are carotenoid colourists, and the fruit they eat in autumn is the raw material of the red they wear in March.
