The story of the bird
Small, pale and quick, the Least Tern brings a light, airy note to a coastal wall. Silver-grey and white with a neat black cap and a slender yellow bill, it is the smallest tern in North America, and its restrained colour makes it an easy, calming piece for a bright bedroom, a bathroom or a beach house.

The Least Tern nests on open sand along the coasts and on inland river sandbars, hovering and plunge-diving for tiny fish in the shallows. Its beach-nesting colonies have brought it real conservation attention, which gives the print a quiet second meaning for anyone who cares for the shore.
