The story of the bird
The Mountain Plover is the plover of the dry high plains, a bird that lives far from any shore. Plain sandy-buff with a clean white face and a small dark cap, it is the most understated plover in the collection, a soft, neutral print for a western home or a calm, natural room.
The bird
Despite the name, the Mountain Plover is a bird of flat, arid short-grass prairie and plateau, not mountains, often found on heavily grazed ground and near prairie-dog towns. Pale sandy-brown above and white below, it is beautifully matched to the dry country it lives in. Its restrained, earth-toned palette and quiet poise make it one of the calmest, most neutral pieces to hang, at home in a low-key western interior.
