The story of the bird
The Roseate Tern is the most delicate of the terns, pale and elegant, with the faintest rose flush across its breast in the breeding season. Long tail streamers and a fine black cap give it a refined, graceful line, a soft, light-toned print for a coastal bedroom or a bright, restrained wall.
The bird
The Roseate Tern nests in scattered colonies on both sides of the Atlantic and has become a focus of coastal conservation, which lends its print a quiet second meaning. It is slimmer and paler than the common terns it often nests among, with very long tail streamers and, in spring, a pale pink wash across the underparts that gives the bird its name. That soft rose tint and long, clean line make it one of the most elegant seabirds to hang.
