The story of the bird
The Western Snowy Plover is the small pale plover of the Pacific beaches, and a conservation emblem of that coast. Its soft, sand-toned palette makes a gentle, restful print, and its protected status gives it a quiet meaning as a conservation gift for anyone who loves and defends the western shore.
The bird
The Western Snowy Plover nests in shallow scrapes on the open sandy beaches and dunes of the Pacific coast, where its protection has shaped how many of those beaches are managed through the nesting season. Pale grey-buff above and white below, with small dark shoulder marks, it is beautifully camouflaged against dry sand. That soft, neutral colouring makes it one of the calmest pieces in the collection, ideal for a bright bedroom or a coastal set built on quiet tone.
